Measure the problem

Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Sort processes by CPU, Memory and Disk to identify what is consistently busy.

Reduce startup load

Open Settings → Apps → Startup. Turn off nonessential apps you recognize, but leave security software running.

Check available storage

Open Settings → System → Storage. Review temporary files before deleting anything. Keep enough free space for updates.

Update safely

Install Windows updates and drivers from the PC manufacturer. Restart, then retest performance.

Know when hardware matters

An aging hard drive, low memory or overheating can limit performance. Avoid unverified registry-cleaner apps.
